21 Dares: Tribal Magz ft Gracious K & Ramzee

If you downloaded the Tribal Magz mixtape you would have already heard the original of 21 Dares, however it has been on the grapevyne for a short while that there was a recomposition taking place to include Gracious K and the man of the moment on the scene, Ramzee the host amongst the Stormparties collective.

If you’re a DJ who has been playing the original 21 Dares, throw your last copy out the window and get in touch with the guys for a new copy. This new version has so much more to offer than the previous. However my constructive criticism would be that some of the lyrics could’ve been more creative ie we don’t need to still be hearing about how big ‘Migraine Skank’ was anymore….. It is 2011 now, let’s get with the times!

Anyways, check it out….

Tribal Magz Still Doing It Tribal

Entering on to the UK Funky scene in early 2009 with Tribal Man Skank which sampled Lil Silva’s Seasons, Tribal Magz has continued to face all the tribulations thrown his way and has finally released the long awaited album which is now a mixtape titled ‘So We’re Doing It Tribal’ showcasing all of his tracks thus far.

Including the Tribal Man Skank remix featuring Gracious K, a track only released via YouTube and the video shortly removed; many didn’t get a chance to hear it. At the time, released as a remix, it lacked creativity so it’s time had passed, but in hindsight the track could’ve been an entertaining if exclusively performed as a PA to bring the audience something new as Migraine Skank and Tribal Man Skank started to exhaust their time, becoming repetitive.

Feeling Funky produced by KG, was a track generally favoured when released, however it had it’s own experience of turmoil with release as the video has to be shot two times, the finishing product disappointing. ‘So We’re Doing It Tribal’ includes both the original and remix feat Sway which was previously only available via Sway’s mixtape. Many ear drums haven’t been graced with this adaptation, even though it was openly appreciated by those who were lucky enough to be a recipient. Some even claimed it was better.

The mixtape overall boasts a number of other collaborations with Tribal Magz including Haynzy, Dymunds, Slix (Ruff Squad) and Lioness not to mention ‘Back 2 Funk’ which has Tribal Man, Flirta D, KIG, Gracious K, Dotstar and Funky Dee all on one track! Does Tribal Magz wish to share his spotlight or is he bewildered about having to stand in it alone? Either way the young man who has always marketed himself as an artist has continued to push through declined clearance, delayed videos and many management changes to produce more than has been achieved by a number of his peers.

UK Funky January Round Up 2010

January has seen various buzzes created within the scene this month. Lots of exciting releases including the long-awaited singles from Tribal Magz and Maxwell D, as well as Trilla gearing up for a release of his own. There are also upcoming albums in the pipeline coming from Roska, Katy B and of course Coldsteps…

Coldsteps has also taken the decision to fly the nest of the Play Entertainment camp which has raised a few eyebrows, however the official press release states to “wish Coldsteps well with his future ventures.” Something I think is felt from all.

Dennis Ferrer – Hey Hey is definitely the undisputed track of the month, being played on every dancefloor, radio show and mix CD over the month. If you haven’t heard this one a bit too many times, but claim to listen to Funky, I’d like to know what you’ve been listening to!? Seriously, it does need toning down a little bit! But if you still can’t get enough, look out for the Live PA down at Yellow on February 27th.

Talking about events, the Thank You Parties were in full swing throughout January, and with the following month being February, I’m sure you can take a guess what the common theme is next month! I’m not sure if it’ll be the couples thing, but if you’re a singleton, you never know who you might meet…. Just in time for next year! But if you’re one step ahead (and young enough) you’ll be hitting up the mega events, I call them mega due to the capacity levels, and if you’re lucky, you may bag yourself that companion last minute!

The controversy surrounding ‘beat-jacking’ lives on. The producers are still angry due to getting cut out the deal and the MCs see it as free promotion. The argument continues to hold back releases in which we’ve already witnessed with Party Hard, Migraine Skank, Tribal Man Skank, Blackberry Hype and Are You Gonna Bang? All tracks which held heavy weight within the club scene. Are the opposed really ‘House snobs’ or are they trying to advise a more amicable way to construct to make music aiding an early release in the event that it is signed by the luring A&Rs. The earlier mentioned have all suffered in their own way, some being asked for high percentage royalties, others being offers thousands of pounds, but being unable to sign contracts due to lack of full ownership. Poor chart sales are undoubtedly consistent within the tracks of their kind, minus the original – Head, Shoulders, Knees & Toes which peaked at Number 18 in the national Singles Charts. Working together instead of against each other could supersede what has already been accomplished.

Official Migraine Skank Video!!

It’s finally here after so long…. So SHOW ME HOW YOU GET DOWN!!!!

Song sounds slightly different though….. Well Enjoy!!

Funky Grunge?

This video gave me so much joke I had to share it with you guys! The creator has already stated that it is not serious, so please don’t be appalled…… There seems to be a funky remix of nearly everything these days, I think it’s refreshing to know the movement is now getting strong enough for people heavily indulged in other genres to be making remixes of our tracks.

Anyway…. Enjoy the laugh lol

Tribal Man Skank Remix

I’m sure these guys could’ve been ALOT more creative……. I’m so disappointed!! I guess I expected too much but I thought thier personal evolution would’ve taken them further than “I be the Tribal Man, bussin the Migraine Skank”, in the situation of a remix, there was allowance for a different backing track that was produced for the purpose as well as more affluent lyrical content. This remix could’ve been the banger that blew both previous productions out the water with its own originality….. I think this was a waste of money and time.

What do you think?

Ciara has a Migraine….. SKANK!

Well they say 1xtra is the place to push UK talent forward but I bet Gracious K never thought that when he went up to Mista Jam’s show he’d find himself tutoring a US superstar how to perfect the Migraine Skank.

Yes that’s right!! Ciara will be going back to the US teaching all her fellow stars the skank that is popping off right now in the UK Funky circuit. If you’re a disbeliever, you can see the footage here:
